Organic Chemistry II

This course is the continuation of Organic Chemistry I course and is aimed at giving deeper knowledge of organic chemistry with various topics covered in most college and university curricula. See the course content below for full description.

Course content:

The Organic Chemistry II session includes the following:

✓  Aldol and Claisen condensations

  Enolates and alpha carbon chemistry

  Diels Adler and pericyclic reactions

  Michael reactions

  Reactions of benzenes

✓  Alcohols, epoxides, ethers, sulfides Aldehydes and ketones

  Carboxylic acid and derivatives

✓  Amines, Amides, Imines, Enamines

  Aromatic Diazonium reactions

  Introduction to amino acids and peptides

Outcome

Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

✓  Carry out multistep synthesis of benzene compounds

✓  Identification of compounds from NMR, IR, C13 data

✓  Build organic molecules from start to finish

✓  Understand basic HOMO LUMO theory and apply it
